Working To Restore Nature <br /> E I E 1) <br /> 3164 Gold Camp Drive E P <br /> Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 <br /> Phone (916)852-6690 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH <br /> Fax (916)852-6688 P RMIT/_8� - <br /> September 8, 1992 <br /> Mr Chuck Carmel <br /> ARCO Products Company <br /> P O Box 5811 <br /> San Mateo, California 94402 <br /> Subject Second Addendum to Work Plan for a Subsurface Investigation at ARCO <br /> Service Station No 2076, 800 East Kettleman Road, Lodi, California <br /> Mr Carmel <br /> At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), RESNA industries (RESNA) is <br /> submitting this addendum to our previous Work Plan (No 30008-1W, dated September 5, <br /> 1990) for additional work at the subject site (Plate 1) Additional work includes drilling <br /> twelve soil borings and installing four monitoring wells and four vapor-extraction wells in <br /> the borings The purpose of the additional work is to delineate residual hydrocarbons in <br /> soil and to evaluate the ground-water quality <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> In October 1990, three soil borings were drilled near the former tank complex and two soil <br /> borings were drilled in the area proposed for the new tank cavity The borings were <br /> terminated 30 feet below surface grade because ground water was encountered <br /> Concentrations of gasoline hydrocarbons (quantified as TPHg) were below 0 052 parts per <br /> million in soil from the borings near the gasoline tank cavity, residual hydrocarbons were <br /> not detected in soil from the borings near the new tank cavity In July 1991, three <br /> additional soil borings were drilled and converted to vapor-extraction wells We conducted <br /> a vapor-extraction test after well installation, results of the test indicated vapor extraction <br /> is a feasible method of remediating soil at this site The vapor extraction test was not to <br /> response to hydrocarbons detected in soil, it was done to evaluate remedial alternatives if <br /> remediation became necessary after the tank pull <br /> On November 20, 1991, RESNA observed removal of five gasoline-storage tanks and <br /> associated product lines New tanks were installed in the new tank cavity In December <br /> 1991, RESNA installed polyvinyl chloride piping near the new product lines for use in a <br /> 0 future vapor-extraction system. <br /> 30008-5W <br />
