' 30 October 2000 <br /> • AGE-NC Project No 99-0624 <br />' Page 4 of 8 <br />' 33 LOGGING <br /> During probe boring activities,sample duplicates were monitored for the presence of organic vapor <br />' (OV) using an organic vapor meter equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID Thermo <br /> Environmental 580A, 10 0 eV,calibrated to isobutylene)and were visually described on boring logs <br /> in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) Boring logs are included in <br />' Appendix A <br />' 3 4 EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION <br />' All probing rods used were cleaned prior to advancement m each probe boring location Sampling <br /> tools and brass sleeves used for sample collection were thoroughly washed in a solution ofAlconox <br /> and rinsed with clean tap water prior to each sampling run <br /> 3 5 SOIL BORINGS AND MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION - PHASE II <br />' • On 04 and 05 November 1999,AGE directed the advancement and completion of four soil borings <br /> as ground water monitormg wells The soil borings were advanced utilizing a truck-mounted drill <br />' ng equipped with 8-inch diameter hollow stem augers The drill ng and two man crew were supplied <br /> by Mitchell Drilling Environmental Corp (MDE) of Rancho Cordova, California The monitoring <br /> well locations are depicted in Figure 2 <br /> 1 <br /> 3 6 SOIL AND GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION <br />' Discrete soil samples were collected at 5-foot intervals from specific depths from MW-1, MW-2, <br /> MW-3 and MW-4 (refer to boring Iogs for specific depth) Soil samples were collected utilizing a <br />' California split-spoon sampler loaded with three 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves The sampler was <br /> driven by dropping a 140-pound weight from a height of 30 inches The number of blows required <br /> to drive each 6-inch interval (blow counts)was recorded on boring logs by an AGE staff geologist <br />' v d f the second brass sleeve with Teflon sheets <br /> Soil samples were preserved by covering e g bo th ends o , <br /> t capping and sealing with tape Each preserved sample sleeve was labeled with soil boring location, <br /> depth,time,date and sampler's initials and was stored in a chilled container under ice Selected soil <br /> samples were logged on a chain-of-custody, transported to a State of California Department of <br />' Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory and were analyzed for <br /> • TPH-g in accordance with EPA Method 5030/8015M, <br /> 1 Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc <br /> 1 <br />
