1 4 s <br /> 1 - <br /> i 30 October 2000 <br />' AGE-NC Project No 99-0624 <br /> Page 5 of 8 <br /> • Volatile aromatics (BTEX) with methyl tertiary- butyl ether (MTBE) in accordance with <br /> EPA Method 8020, and <br />' a TBA, DUPE, ETBE, TAME and MTBE in accordance with EPA Method 8260M. <br />' Grab ground water samples were collected from borings MW-1,MW-2,MW-3 and MW-4 Samples <br /> were collected utilizing a disposable polyethylene bailer Sample preservation procedures were <br /> performed as described in section 3 2 <br />' Water samples were logged on a chain-of-custody, transported to a DHS-certified laboratory and <br /> were analyzed for <br />' 0 TPH-g in accordance with EPA Method 5030/8015M, <br />' a BTEX and MTBE in accordance with EPA method 8020, and <br /> • TBA, DUPE,ETBE, TAME and MTBE in accordance with EPA Method 8260M <br /> 37 LOGGING <br /> During soil boring activities,the same procedures were followed as described in section 3 3 Boring <br /> logs are presented in Appendix A <br /> 1 <br /> 3 8 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION <br />' The four soil borings were completed as ground water monitoring wells utilizing 2-mch diameter, <br /> schedule 40,blank polyvinyl chloride(PVC)casing and 2-inch diameter screened PVC casing with <br />' 0 020-inch screen slots <br />' Each well was completed by placing the PVC well casing assembly through the hollow stem of the <br /> augers to the total depth of the boring The augers were incrementally raised as #3 Lonestar sand <br /> (filter pack)was slowly poured down the annulus between the well casmg and the inner wall of the <br />' hollow stem auger The filter pack was placed adjacent to the screened casing from the bottom of <br /> the boring to a point approximately two feet above the top of the screen Following placement of the <br /> filter pack, a surge block was inserted into the PVC casing and was lowered then raised (surged) <br />' repeatedly for approximately 10 minutes The depth to the top of the filter pack was measured and <br /> bentonite chips were poured into the annulus and allowed to settle on the filter pack Five gallons <br /> of tap water were used to hydrate the bentonite chips for one-half hour prior to grouting The <br />' remaining annular space was sealed with portland type V11 neat cement mixed with no more than 6 <br /> Advanced GeaEnvvanmental,Inc. <br />
