i
30 June 1999 _
AGE-NC Project No 99-0624
i
One soil probe boring is proposed to be advanced near the location of B-2 within the center of the
former UST excavation to assess the vertical extent of soil impacts and to evaluate potential impacts
to ground water following the pre-UST removal investigation A second boring will be advanced,
' near the former dispenser island to evaluate the vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbons (xylenes)
detected in a soil sample collected during UST removal A third soil boring will be advanced in the
assumed down-gradient direction (south-southwest) of the former USTs and dispenser island
Soil probe borings are proposed to be advanced to depths of approximately 45 feet bsg However,
total depths of probe borings will be based on field observations and field screening using an organic
vapor monitor(OVM) Soil samples will be collected from each probe boring at five-foot intervals
from ground surface to the total depth of the boring Field procedures for advancement of probe
borings and collection of soil samples are presented in Sections 4 1 and 4 2, respectively
It is proposed that up to nine soil samples, three soil samples from each soil probe boring, will be
submitted for laboratory analysis Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a California Department
of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents
. • TPH-g by EPA Method 8015 Modified/5030,
• BTEX by EPA Method 8020, and
Y Fuel oxygenating compounds including methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), di-isopropyl ether
(DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME) and TBA by
EPA Method 8260
Laboratory reports for soil analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control
(QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with
findings and recommendations
3 3 IN-SITU GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
During the soil assessment activities, depth-discrete ground water samples will be collected from
each of the soil probe borings, if possible In-situ ground water sample collection procedures are
Presented in Section 4 3
Selected groundwater samples will be analyzed by a DHS-certified laboratory for the following
constituents
. TPH-g by EPA Method 8015 Modified/5030,
Advanced CeoEn%ironmental,Inc
