5) Screening soil samplin survey urvey— Advancement of up to 20 direct push soil borings
(up to 20 feet bgs) in areas near the main industrial building and/or near identified
geophysical anomalies (this assumes 2 field days). Samples will be obtained every
five feet, beginning at five feet bgs. An additional four (4) shallow (up to 5 feet
bgs) borings will be completed along the railroad spur. Analysis of 24 soil samples
(generally 1 per soil boring) for VOCs via EPA Method 8260 and total petroleum
hydrocarbons carbon chain (TPH-cc) by EPA Method 8015-modified; and selected
samples (assume 12) also for, organophosphate and chlorinated pesticides and
herbicides via EPA Methods 8041, 8081 & 8151 (respectively), and if significant
results are found from the above analyses, possible further analysis of semi-VOCs
(SVOCs) by EPA Method 8270, and CAM 17 Metals by EPA Method 6010 or
similar. Samples will be analyzed by a fixed-base CA-certified laboratory. Assume
2 field days.
6) Screening_groundwater survey- Drilling of up to 4 deep borings to a depth of up to
40 feet below ground surface (or to first groundwater) at the site based upon
inferred groundwater flow direction, information provided by the geophysical
survey, and visual observations, and conversion of those 4 borings to temporary
groundwater monitoring wells. Analysis of 4 groundwater samples (1 per boring)
for VOCs via EPA Method 8260, total petroleum hydrocarbons carbons chain
(TPH-cc) by EPA Method 8015-modified, organophosphate and chlorinated
pesticides and herbicides via EPA Methods 8041, 8081 & 8151 (respectively),
semi-VOCs (SVOCs) by EPA Method 8270, and CAM 17 Metals by EPA Method
6010 or similar. Soil samples will also be obtained every five feet during
advancement of the borings, and 2 soil samples are planned to be analyzed from
each boring for VOCs and TPH-cc. Samples will be analyzed by a fixed-base CA-
certified laboratory. PEI will attempt to collect preliminary groundwater elevation
data to assess the general direction of groundwater flow. Assume 1 field day.
7) Report preparation and signature by a California Professional Geologist.
Limited Phase II Environmental Site Assessment Report Pinnacle Environmental,Inc.
248 Industrial Avenue,Stockton,CA 95206 Page 4
