According to information obtained by the Port of Stockton,
depth to groundwater could range from 2 to 8 feet below ground surface(bgs).
3.0 LIMITED SUBSURFACE SOIL INVESTIGATION
Between April 15 and 16, 2014, Antea Group oversaw Cascade Drilling, L.P. (Cascade), a licensed C-57 drilling
contractor, advance twenty-eight soil borings (B-1 through B-28) throughout the site for the collection of soil
samples. Figure 2 depicts the approximate locations of borings B-1 through B-28. Antea Group selected soil
sampling locations to correspond with planned soil-disturbance areas where construction contractors may be
affected by PECs identified in Antea Group's Limited Phase I ESA.
3.1 Pre-field Activities
Prior to initiating field activities,Antea Group prepared a Health and Safety Plan (HASP) in accordance with Title 8,
Section 5192 of the California Code of Regulations. Field personnel reviewed the HASP daily, prior to conducting
onsite activities. On April 2, 2014, Antea Group marked the site with the proposed borings locations and
supervised a private utility clearance at the proposed locations. Antea Group contacted Underground Service Alert
(USA; Ticket#0126283) at least 48 hours prior to ground disturbance in order to identify and locate all subsurface
utilities/obstructions in the vicinity of boring locations. Antea Group obtained an exploratory boring permit
(#69294)from SJCEHD,and notified the Port of Stockton and California Traction Company(CTC) rail yard personnel
prior to commencing fieldwork. A copy of the permit is included as Appendix A.
3.2 Exploratory Soil Borings
Between April 15 and 16, 2014,Antea Group personnel supervised Cascade during the advancement of soil borings
B-1 through B-28. Cascade used a 3-inch diameter hang auger to advance the soil borings to various depths
3 www.anteagroup.com
