Case Narrative C
Client:Antea USA, Inc. TestAmerica Job ID: 720-56810-1
Project/Site: UPRR-Stockton
Job ID: 720-56810-1 (Continued)
Laboratory:TestAmerica Pleasanton(Continued)
GC Semi VOA
Method 8081A:The%RPD between the primary and confirmation column/detector exceeded 40%for DDT,alpha-chlordane for the
following sample(s): B-7D1.5(720-56810-14). The lower value has been reported and qualified in accordance with the laboratory's SOP.
Method 8082:Surrogate recovery for the following sample was outside control limits: (720-56810-23 MS),B-2D5.5(720-56810-3),
B-3D5.5(720-56810-4), B-7D1.5(720-56810-14), B-8D1.5(720-56810-16). Evidence of matrix interference is present;therefore,
re-extraction and/or re-analysis was not performed.
Method 8082:The following sample appears to contain polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs);however, due to weathering or other
environmental processes, the PCBs in the sample do not closely match any of the laboratory's Aroclor standards used for instrument
calibration:B-17D1.5(720-56810-21). The sample(s)has been quantified and reported as Aroclor 1260. Due to the poor match with the
Aroclor standard(s),there is increased qualitative and quantitative uncertainty associated with this result.
No other analytical or quality issues were noted.
Metals
Method 601OB:The matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate(MS/MSD)recoveries for prep batch 157814 were outside control limits. Sample
matrix interference and/or non-homogeneity are suspected because the associated laboratory control sample(LCS)recovery was within
acceptance limits.
Method 601OB:The matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate(MS/MSD)recoveries for prep batch 157670 were outside control limits. Sample
matrix interference and/or non-homogeneity are suspected because the associated laboratory control sample(LCS)recovery was within
acceptance limits.
Method 6010B:The serial dilution performed for the following sample associated with prep batch 157670 was outside control limits:
(720-56810-13 SD)
Method 601OB:The matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate(MS/MSD)recoveries for prep batch 157811 were outside control limits. Sample
matrix interference and/or non-homogeneity are suspected because the associated laboratory control sample(LCS)recovery was within
acceptance limits.
Method 6010B:The serial dilution performed for the following sample associated with analytical batch 157955 was outside control limits:
(720-56810-20 SD)
Method 601OB:The continuing calibration verification(CCV)associated with prep batch157811 recovered above the upper control limit for
Cd. The samples associated with this CCV were non-detects for the affected analytes;therefore, the data have been reported. The
following samples are impacted:B-20D3.5(720-56810-29),B-21D1.5(720-56810-30), B-23D5.5(720-56810-34), B-24D2.5
(720-56810-33), B-25D1.5(720-56810-35),B-25D5.5(720-56810-36),B-26D3.5(720-56810-37),B-27D1.5(720-56810-38).
Method 601OB:The following sample was diluted due to the abundance of non-target analyte Al and Fe:B-18D6.5(720-56810-24),
B-19D3.5(720-56810-27), B-21 D3.5(720-56810-31), B-25D1.5(720-56810-35). Elevated reporting limits(RLs)are provided.
Method 601OB: Due to sample matrix effect on the internal standard(ISTD),a dilution was required for the following sample:B-18D6.5
(720-56810-24), B-19D3.5(720-56810-27).
Method 601OB:The following sample was diluted due to the abundance of non-target analyte:B-21 D1.5(720-56810-30). Elevated
reporting limits(RLs)are provided.
No other analytical or quality issues were noted.
Organic Prep
No analytical or quality issues were noted, other than those described in the Definitions/Glossary page.
TestAmerica Pleasanton
Page 5 of 241 4/29/2014
