Installing Field Wiring and Conduit Conduit Run Guidelines
be AWG#18 minimum and must be designed for use in the presence of gasoline and
oil.
Direct Burial Cable
Alternatively,Veeder-Root two-wire Direct Burial Cable(Form No. 848100-1XX)
which does not require conduit,may be used.Direct Burial Cable installation also
require sealants and filler rods(Form No. 848100-2XX).Refer to Site Preparation Kit
No. 848100-500 for guidelines regarding installing and ordering direct burial cable.
Conduit Run Guidelines
When installing a PLLD system,carefully planning conduit runs can save time and
reduce costs.Design the layout to best suit site requirements.
Run the conduit:
❑ from the TLS monitor power area to the submersible pump relay control box(es);
❑ from the TLS monitor intrinsically safe area to the Line Leak Sensor junction box
in the submersible pump manhole;
❑ between the TLS monitor and the power panel to supply AC power to the pump
control module.
Wiring for PLLD Sensor Interface Module
The wiring between the console and each sensor must be designed for use in the
presence of gasoline and oil and must be between AWG 14 and AWG 18.
1. Run conduit from the TLS monitor to the manhole.
Important sw The Line Leak Sensor junction box in the submersible pump manhole must be within
4-feet of the Line Leak Sensor.
2. There are knockouts for%-inch, 1-inch or 1'/-inch conduit in the monitor box.
When deciding on the size and number of conduits required,consider the number
of wires entering the monitor.For example,a system with a liquid sensor module
and a probe module would have a maximum of 24 wires(16 for the liquid sensor
and 8 for the probe)if all the channels were used.
3. Install a weatherproof electrical junction box with a gasketed cover for each Line
Leak Sensor.The junction box interior must be a minimum of 16 cubic inches with
-inch NPT threads.
4. To ensure a waterproof junction,use gasketing or sealing compound at each entry
to the box.
576013-902,Revision G 13
