r ,
15 November 2011
AGE-NC Project No. 11-1999
Page 3 of 5
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH-all) as carbon chain C5-C12, carbon chain
C13-C24, and carbon chain C25-C40 in accordance with EPA-method 8015-
modified;
• Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in accordance with EPA-method 826013;
• LUFT metals: Cd, Cr, Ni, Cu, and Pb in accordance with EPA Methods 6010B.
Selected soil samples were analyzed forTPH-all and LUFT metals; selected ground water
sampled were analyzed for TPH-all and VOCs.
2.4. EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION
Prior to sample collection, Geoprobe soil sampling equipment was thoroughly rinsed with
clean water after being washed with a solution of Alconox. Geoprobe rods were thoroughly
cleaned prior to soil probe boring advancement.
2.5. BORING ABANDONMENT
Following soil and ground water sample collection, each boring was permanently sealed
to prevent vertical migration of potential contaminants. Soil borings were abandoned by
backfilling with portland cement from the total depth to surface grade.
3.0. FINDINGS
Hydrocarbon odors were observed in the soil sample collected from boring B5 at 10 feet
bsg (135-10). Utilizing the OVM, organic vapors were detected in soil sample 135-10 at a
concentration 5.7 parts per million volume(ppmv). Organic vapors were not detected in the
remaining soil samples. Boring logs are included in Appendix A.
A total of nine soil samples collected from borings B2, B3, B5, B6, B8, B9, 1311, and B12
were analyzed for TPH-all; a total of four soil samples collected from B2, B5, B8, and B9
were analyzed for LUFT metals. TPH in the carbon chain range C13-C24 were detected
in soil sample 135-10 at a concentration of 190 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg). Chromium,
copper, lead, and nickel were detected in samples 132-10, 135-10, 138-10, and 139-10 at
maximum concentrations of 43 mg/kg chromium, 55 mg/kg copper, 21 mg/kg lead, and
60 mg/kg nickel; cadmium was not detected above laboratory reporting limits in the soil
samples analyzed. No other chemical constituents were detected above laboratory
reporting limits in the soil samples analyzed.
Advanced Geo Environmental,Inc.
