The following planning measures will be instituted to facilitate response to emergency situations: <br /> • The SSHO will conduct a safety briefing prior to the start of work. Copies of the <br /> work plan, including the HSP, will be distributed to all project personnel; <br /> • All field personnel will be instructed in the use of all field safety equipment before <br /> any field activity takes place; <br /> • All personnel will be instructed in emergency communication protocols appropriate <br /> to the project; <br /> • The SSHO will verify that all field personnel have fulfilled the project training; and <br /> • The SSHO will check to see that all required safety equipment is at the job site prior <br /> to the start of each day's field activities. <br /> In the event of an emergency, the SSHO will be in charge of emergency response actions and she <br /> will designate an alternate at the initial site safety meeting. These individuals will have the <br /> hospital route map (Figure 1) accessible during site activities. The following directions are <br /> provided to ensure that personnel respond to emergency situations in a calm and reasonable <br /> manner. <br /> • Prior to commencement of field operations, an emergency medical assistance network <br /> will be established.
