San Joaquin Street
- Stockton, CA' 95201-0388
Subject: Addendum to Groundwater Investigation Work Plan for 1444 Lathrop Road,
Lathrop, California.
Dear Mr. Sasson;
In a letter dated January 30, 1995, the San Joaquin County Public Health Services_
Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS,EI-ID) approved, with comments, the work plan prepared by
Condor Earth Technologies, Inc., (Condor), dated September 27, 1994, for a groundwater investigation
at the above referenced site. This letter presents Condors response to SJCPHS,EHD comments to
perform a groundwater investigation at the site and to change the proposed soil analytical method for
total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPI -d).
E,
GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION
Condor's work plan outlined a`phased investigation to evaluate groundwater conditions at the
site. The first phase of the investigation included the collection of one grab groundwater sample near
the east end of the former location of TK4 using a Hydr punch sampling tool. The purpose of the
grab water sample was to confirm the presence of hydrocarbon contamination in the groundwater prior
to the installation of monitor wells. The second phase o investigation, based on the results of phase
one; included tle installation of°thi`ee monitor wells. SJ PHS,EHD requires that;based on Sari -
Joaquin County Flood Control Maps indicating a depth to groundwater at the site as shallow as 10 feet
below ground surface, monitor wells be installed at the site.
San Joaquin County flood control maps indicate that the general groundwater flow direction at
the Di Salvo Trucking site is-toward the southwest. Bas d on the flow direction from the flood
control maps, Condor proposed in the,Work Plan, dated September 27, 1994, a triangular pattern of
monitor wells with one well in the anticipated downgrad ent direction from soil contamination detected
near the east and of the former location of TK4. At least one of the three proposed monitor wells is
within 10 feet of the former tank pit, as requested by SJ PHS,EHD.
ANALYTICAL NMTHODS € -
SJCPHS,BHD indicated that soil samples collected from the site are to be analyzed for Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-d) by EPA Method 8015. EPA Method 8015 utilizes a purge
ENVIRONMENTAL • GEOLOGICAL • ENGINEERING • GEOTECHNICAL
E'.
