Di Salvo-Lathrop MW I Report
June 28, 1995
Page-7-
respectively. Laboratory analyses of the groundwater sample collected from MW I detected diesel at a
concentration of 0.40 mg/l. BTEX constituents were not detected at or above the reported laboratory detection
limits.
y Based on the analytical results of the soil sample collected from MWI and previous soil samples
collected from the site, the lateral extent of soil contamination has been evaluated at the site. Laboratory
analyses of the groundwater sample indicated that the shallow water table at the site has been impacted by
diesel. SJCPHS,EHD indicated the groundwater gradient at the Sharpe Army Depot, located immediately
north of the Di Salvo site, is consistently toward the northwest. Condor recommends that because of the very
low concentration of diesel in the groundwater sample collected from MW1, that MWi be purged of several
hundred gallons of water in an attempt to evaluate the magnitude of groundwater contamination at the site.
The removal of several hundred gallons of groundwater from MW 1 could potentially remove the full extent of
groundwater contamination from the site. Likewise, the removal of several hundred gallons of groundwater
from MW1 has the potential of drawing higher concentrations of groundwater contamination into the well,
thereby indicating that additional investigation may be necessary. The selected coarse of action to investigate
the potential extent of groundwater contamination at the site should be presented to SJCPHS,EHD for
comment and approval. if you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Condor at
(209) 668-9234.
Respectfully submitted,
p r.-.
T CIVIC_ e/
Marti R.
