Lead concentrations of 10 and 14 mg/kg were also detected.
Copies of the official laboratory reports, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Reports, Chain-of-
Custody Records and analytical methods are included in Appendix C.
3.r-
2 Site Asscssinent gnd Remedial Excavation Activities.
1 ' A work plan dated June 17, 1997 for site assessment and remedial excavation activities was submitted
to the San Joaquin County, Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division(PHS/EHD)for
approval. Included within this work plan was a site safety plan for the proposed work. Work plan
approval was received and the work occurred on July 15 and 16, 1997. We observed the excavation
r. and removal of greater than 800 cubic yards of hydrocarbon-and non-hydrocarbon-affected soil from
the area of the former UST cavities. Excavations, to a maximum depth of approximately 11 fbg,
were performed using typical heavy-duty construction equipment. Figure 3 shows the approximate
t-
_u horizontal extent of the excavations.
3.3 Stratigraphy
Stratigraphy observed during these activities was similar to that encountered during the previous
,k onsite geotechnical investigation. However, a thin layer(to a maximum thickness of approximately
2 feet) of fills and/or disturbed soils were encountered overlying the Quaternary Alluvial deposits.
Additionally, an approximately three foot thick blanket of coarse, rounded gravel was found to be
FAPROJECCS120-04451ENRP02.WPD
t
J
