Site Safety Plan: Subsurface Investigation and Safety Plan Page 1
Remedial Excavation of Hydrocarbon-affected Soil
Proposed Cintra Park Phase II Development, Tract 2705, Tracy, California
1.0 INTRODUCTION: SITE SAFETY PLAN
This site safety plan (SSP) has been prepared in conformity with the Construction Testing &
Engineering, Inc. (CTE) Health and Safety Program. It addresses activities associated with site
assessment and remedial soil excavation at the referenced site. This SSP will be carried out during
all field activities. The requirements and parameters identified in this SSP will be subject to
modification as warranted by existing site conditions or as work progresses. However, no changes
will be made without the prior approval of the Project Safety Officer.
1.1 Project Background
Located at northwestern corner of the intersection of est Byron and Coral Hollow Roads the site
was formerly occupied by a working farm. Figure I of the attached workplan is an index map
showing the location of the site.
1.2 Previous and Proposed Work
Two underground storage tanks(USTs)apparently form fly containing leaded and unleaded gasoline
were excavated and removed on June 2, 1997. Soil samples were collected from the open excava-
tions below the former UST locations and analyzed for: Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons-Gas (TPH-
G); and, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xyl nes (BTEX). TPH-G concentrations were
8,100 and 8,200 mg/kg in the analyzed samples.
Under this phase of work the possible extent of hydrocarbon-affected soil will be assessed by
excavation
2.0 SITE PERSONNEL AND RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1 Project Safety Officer
The Project Safety Officer has overall responsibilitr for the development, coordination, and
implementation of the SSP and its conformity with the C TE Health and Safety Program. The Project
Safety Officer will also be responsible for field im lementation of this SSP. This includes
communicating the site specific requirements to all site personnel and third parties and assuring
compliance with the CTE Health and Safety Program If the Project Safety Officer is unable to
perform these duties, the designated Alternative Safeq Officer will be responsible.
WAPROJECTS110210AEN"01 MM
