'Pombo Property
Excavation and Monitoring Well Installation
The following scope of work addresses the recommendations of the SJEHD.
11 Site Description and History
Specific areas of concern were identified during an Environmental Assessment for
Bright Development, a prospective buyer f the subject property. A portion of the
property at 24100 S. Lammers Road is occupied by a farming facility, which
includes residential dwellings, a barn, quipment sheds and shops. Tractor
storage, repairs, and fueling are conducted in this area, which fronts 11 th Street.
Some pesticide and above ground fuel storage was apparent during the inspection.
Records indicate that the improvements to the parcel started in 1930. The
undeveloped acreage is used for irrigated crops and/or pasture.
Two underground tanks were listed in tf e state records review as in use at the
24100 S. Lammers Road property but had been removed before 1993. Since the
tanks were farm exempt they may have removed without the normally required
soil sampling. Several above ground tanks are in use at this site. The above
ground tanks are located together centralin the shop and barn area. Historical
photographs show that one of the above ground tanks was located next to the
tractor shop.
On September 16, 1998 M.J. Kloberdanz & Associates drilled 8 Geoprobeig) soil
borings to five feet below groundwater (average depth 15' bgs). A soil sample
was obtained from the capillary fringe in seven of the eight borings. Additional
soil samples were collected from cores with possible contamination. Water
samples were collected from all eight bori igs.
Boring B-1 was drilled in an area of a small pesticide spill identified by the
property owner. Petroleum analysis was included in some of the samples because
of the close proximity to the fuel storage area. Borings B-2, 3, & 4 were drilled
around the above ground fueling area with boring B-3 located at a former
underground tank excavation. Boring -5 was also drilled in the area of a
previously removed underground fuel tank. Boring B-6 was drilled in the Truck
and Tractor wash area and sampled for pesticides and petroleum compounds.
Boring B-7 was drilled in a location where above ground fuel was stored and used
historically. Boring B-8 was drilled in front of the barn at 24124 Lammers Road
where refrigeration equipment is dismantled. Since there was no apparent
spillage or dumping of refrigerants, only groundwater was sampled and analyzed.
2
