'rPombo Property ;t
Excavation and Monitoring Well Installation
allowing for the increased aerobic decomposition of residual contamination in the
source area. The excavation will be backfilled with soils borrowed from
uncontaminated portions of the site.
Limited laboratory sampling will be conducted for confirmation of residual
contamination at the extent of the excavation, characterization for disposal of
contaminated material at a permitted facility or onsite aeration permitting and
confirmation.
The work will be conducted by a licensed contracl or with personnel trained & certified
for hazardous material removal.
Reporting and Consultation
A Technical Report, which documents and discusses all of the activities and laboratory
data involved with the project to date, will be generated at the conclusion of the project.
The report will include an executive summary of 1he investigation activities and results, a
tabulation of all soil and groundwater data, grap ical representation of the geologic and
chemical results, a diagram of wells within a 2000 foot radius of the site along with the
construction details if available, laboratory data sheets, and any recommendations for
further work if data warrants it. The report will be endorsed by the licensed professional
responsible for the work.
2.1 Drilling
Permits will be obtained as necessary for all wells (including borings) before
drilling begins. The soil boring will be accomplished using a mobile mounted
drilling rig employing the use of a hollow stern flight auger no less than 3 1/4-
inch i.d. and 8 718 o.d.
All drilling equipment will be thoroughly team-cleaned before drilling begins, to
prevent the introduction of contamination from off site, and between borings to
prevent cross contamination.
The borings will be logged under th direct supervision of a registered
professional using the Unified Soil Classification System. The color, texture,
moisture, plasticity (if applicable), consistency of the earth materials, pertinent
soil or bedrock characteristics, and any evidence of contamination will be noted.
All water-bearing zones and the depths al which they were encountered will be
noted on these logs.
All b orings w ill b e d rifled i n s uch a in arner a s to p revent c ross c ontamination
between strata. Exploratory soil boring within the unsaturated zone will be
backfilled with Bentonite and cement.
Borings into the saturated zone will be dr lled to a maximum of 20 feet beneath
the top of the aquifer being explored. Al y perching layers encountered will be
7
