-Pombo Property n
Excavation and Monitoring Well Installation
including Dissolved Oxygen, 1,2 DCA and EDB method 8260), and BTX&E (Benzene,
Toluene, Xylene, and Ethyl Benzene).
Domestic Well Monitoring
Drillers logs will be requested from the Department of Water Resources for the three
domestic wells located at (24124 S. Lammers and the southwest corner of S. Lammers
and l It' Street) identified in the earlier sensitive receptor survey (figure 3). If a log is not
available for the onsite well (24100 S. Lammers Road), the well can be examined by a
licensed driller to determine the total depth, screen interval, and locations of seals. A
sample tap will be installed on the well to allow for the collection of representative
groundwater samples.
Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring
Groundwater monitoring will be conducted for one year, if required, to evaluate the
progress of source reduction and track the hydrocarbon plume. Quarterly groundwater
elevations will be measured and groundwater samples collected from the monitoring
wells and the domestic water well. All water samples will be analyzed for TPH-gasoline,
Oxygenated Compounds including 1,2 DCA and EDB, dissolved oxygen and BTX&E.
This information will be provided in a quarterIN groundwater monitoring report along
with the gradient calculations and contour maps. These reports will be provided to the
client and public agencies.
All laboratory samples will be transported, u der chain of custody, to a State of
California Certified Laboratory. The samples will be handled according to SJEHD
guidelines.
Excavation and Disposal of Source Material
M.J. As recommended by SJEHD
(11118/2002) Excavated soils will be field screened for apparent petroleum
contamination and obvious contaminated soils segregated from apparently
uncontaminated material. All excavated material will be covered with plastic sheeting
for temporary containment. Obviously contaminated material will be placed on plastic
sheeting as well as covered to prevent cross cori tamination of clean. soils. Cost and
time estimates based on the volume of obviously contaminated material removed will
be prepared to compare off site disposal at a perm tted facility with onsite aeration and
confirmation sampling under permit from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution
Control District.
An Oxygen Releasin Compound (ORC) will be placed at the bottom of the
excavation immediately bove the water table prior to backfilling the excavation. The
ORC will increase the o ygen content in the shallow groundwater in source area
6
