ARCADIS July 30, 2013
In addition to contacting USA, a private utility locator will be contracted to assess for
locations of potential underground utilities (e.g., pipes, electrical conductors, fuel
lines, and/or sewer lines)before intrusive work is performed. Each boring location will
also be advanced to a depth of five feet bgs using an air-knife tool or hand-auger to
further evaluate for the presence of underground utilities.
Before fieldwork begins, the necessary soil boring permit applications for the
proposed borings and the required fees will be submitted to the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD). In addition to the seven proposed
boring locations illustrated on Figure 3, the seven additional proposed step-out
borings will be permitted in the event additional borings are required to assess the
lateral and vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater at the
site. The name of the drilling contractor, the drilling contractor's C57 license number,
and the name of the laboratory will be included on the SCEMD permit applications.
Additionally, encroachment permits or property access agreements from the
appropriate agencies or property owner(s)will be obtained, as necessary.
Actual boring locations will depend on the results of the underground utility survey
and access agreements. For this reason, potential adjustments to the proposed
boring locations or step-out boring locations may be required. The SJCEHD will be
notified of any significant changes to the proposed boring locations prior to drilling
activities.
To confirm an absence of subsurface utilities, each boring location will be hand
cleared using a hand auger to a depth of five feet bgs. If utilities are encountered, the
boring location will be adjusted accordingly.
Health and Safety Plan
The current site-speck Health and Safety Plan (HSP)will include drilling activities in
accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements and
applicable federal and state regulations(29CFR1910.120 and 8CCR5192,
respectively)for use during site investigations. HSP procedures will be reviewed with
subcontractor and ARCADIS personnel before fieldwork begins.
Investigation Borings
The proposed borings will be advanced using direct push drilling rig. Each boring will
be continuously cored and lithology encountered at each boring will be recorded
Page:
3/5
GUPU&ILl44w Rqx PSUMPIMME 11MM RenVlallUPS P SEII_WPtl
