AGS
boring. Drilling and sampling equipment will be steam-cleaned prior to drilling the first
borehole and between boreholes. The sample barrels will be washed in a three-step
procedure consisting of initial water rinse, washing with trisodium phosphate soap, and
final rinse with deionized water. Since a dedicated, used-once, disposable polyethlene
bailer will be used to obtain grab groundwater samples, it is unnecessary to
decontaminate such equipment prior to sampling.
3.2.4 Drill Cuttings and Wastewater Disposition
Soil drill cuttings and decontamination water will be retained onsite in closed-top 55-
gallon steel drums. The drums will be properly labeled and stored onsite pending the
completion of laboratory analyses for collected soil and grab groundwater samples. The
drummed soil and water wastes will be d!assified on the basis of analytical results
obtained for the collected soil and groundwater samples. All concrete, asphalt, soil and
wastewater will be properly disposed.
3.3 CHEMICAL ANALYSIS PROTOCOL
Soil and groundwater samples will be analyzed at a California State-certified analytical
laboratory. Chemical analyses for both soil and grab groundwater samples will irclude:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel/motor oil (TPH-D/MO) by EPA Method
8015 (Modified);
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G) by EPA Method 8015
(Modified);
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020;
• Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and oxygenate compounds (tertiary butyl
alcohol, MTBE, di-isopropyl ether, ethyl tertiary butyl ether, and tertiary amyl
methyl ether) by EPA Method 8260;
• CAM 17 metals by EPA Methods 6010/7000;
15
\\LAURA\C\Wpwnr3C%WPCCCSx95-CLTS?t995\95030dp\Work Plan\Work?4an coc
