(AA&A). In the Domestic Wells Sampling Work Plan, AA&A proposes to sample
groundwater collected from nearby domestic wells down-gradient of your site for analysis of
contaminants of concern. In Groundwater Investigation Work Plan, AA&A proposes to
advance eight direct-push soil borings to approximately twenty feet below surface grade (bsg)
down-gradient of your site and collect grab groundwater samples for analysis of contaminants
of concern. Results from the groundwater investigation will be used to determine the location
for a future off-site monitoring well. By letter dated September 15, 2009, the EHD had
directed you to complete the assessment of the extent of your plume in a down-gradient
direction, toward the west, and to sample the water wells closest to the source area, down-
gradient of your site, for analysis for petroleum hydrocarbon contamination related to your
unauthorized release.
AA&A proposes to collect groundwater samples from domestic wells located at 10631 and
10723 West Larch Road, and at 21199, 21237 and 21171 South Tracy Boulevard, Tracy,
California. In addition to the addresses listed above, the EHD believes there are domestic
wells located at 21235 South Tracy Boulevard and 10607 West Larch Road; if these wells do
exist, then they, too, should be sampled. AA&A proposes to analyze the groundwater
samples from the domestic wells for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline
(TPHg), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total
xylenes (BTEX), methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), and fuel oxygenates. The EHD is not
certain what VOCs and fuel oxygenates (other than MTBE) will be reported so directs that the
analyses for ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tertiary butyl
alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) and 1,2-
dibmmoethane (EDB) be reported. The EHD approves the work plan for sampling nearby
domestic wells with these modifications.
