Report Second Phase Subsurface tnvestiption
City of Stoeiaon, Banner Island, Stockton,CA
May 20, 1992
W0=.1D
i
41 Groundwater Monitorine Well Installation
The seven soil borings were subsequently completed as groundwater monitoring wells. The
monitoring wells were constructed of 4-inch diameter F480 PVC well screen/casing and
completed as shown on Figure 6 and the well logs (Appendix Q. A well screen slot size of
0.010-inch and a Lone Star 2/12 sand was used as the filter pack. Neat cement was used to seal
the wells, in accordance with San Joaquin County and California Department of Water Resources
guidelines. To protect the integrity of the well, a locking, water-tight well plug was installed
Ion the well and locking steal well monument was concreted over the well.
On March 18, 1992, the wellheads were surveyed vertically and horizontally to a common datum
by Seigfried and Associates to provide accurate well locations. The well locations are plotted
on a map, provided by the City, to be able to show the relationship between the location of the
wells and possible redevelopment areas (Figure S). The survey data and pity map are nr-
in Appendix D.
S
4.3 Well Development and Groundwater Sampling
On March 18 and 19, 1992, the seven monitoring wells installed by RESNA and two existing
wells were developed, monitored, and sampled in accordance with the site Groundwater
Monitoring and Sampling Protocol (Appendix A). Depth to water measurements ranged from
20.01 to 29.16 feet below the top of the well casings. Electrical conductivity measurements
ranged from 721 to 1,136 gmhos/cm. The development and purge water is stored on site in
drums approved for hazardous waste storage, pending laboratory analysi,.. Water samples were
collected after purging a minimum of three well volumes (casing and sandpack). The water
samples were submitted to Sequoia Analytical Laboratory (Redwood City, CA) for analysis of
California Title 22 Metals and Volatile Organics (EPA method 8240).
Rwosu.snr 8
