As per our telephone conversation on May
16, 2002, I would like to conduct cone penetrometer testing (CPT) at the above-
referenced site. URS is not requesting any regulatory oversight and therefore has not
enclosed a Work Plan. This investigation is a preliminary investigation to see if
contaminants have migrated to the groundwater beneath the site.
CPTs will be advanced to first groundwater and samples will be collected and analyzed
for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by EPA Method 8260 and semi-volatile organic
compounds (SVOCs) by EPA Method 8270. Soil samples will be collected from 5 and
10 feet below ground surface and analyzed for the same compounds. Upon completion
of the CPTs, the boreholes will be grouted with a cement bentonite grout tremied to the
surface from the bottom of the hole.
Drilling is currently scheduled for June 17, 2002. If you have any questions please do not
hesitate to contact me at 415/243-3769.
Sincerely,
URS Co ratio
Hollis E.
