EXCAVATION SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
A total of eight soil samples will be collected from the excavation and will be submitted for
laboratory analysis. Following State of California Regional Water Quality Board, Tri-Regional
Board recommendations, soil samples will be collected from the base and each side wall of the
"new"excavation at a minimum interval of every 20 linear feet. Soil samples will be collected from
the base of the excavation at a minimum of one sample for every 400 square feet of excavation area,
approximately four samples. Field procedures for collection of soil samples are presented in Section
4.2.
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health Services
(DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• TPH-g by EPA Method 8015 Modified/5030;
• BTEX by EPA Method 8020; and
• Fuel oxygenates including methyl tert-butyl ether(MTBE),tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA), di-
isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE) and tertiary-amyl methyl ether
(TAME) by EPA Method 8260 Modified.
Laboratory reports for soil analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control
(QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with
findings and recommendations.
3.4.
