10 August 1998
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0471
transported in a chilled container to a state-certified analytical laboratory.
The two ditch water samples were analyzed by:
• EPA Method 8015 modified for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline, diesel,
motor oil (TPH-g, TPH-d and TPH-mo), and by
• EPA Method 8020 for purgeable aromatics (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total
xylenes: BTE&X, including methyl tertiary butyl ether: MTBE)
3.3. COLLECTION OF WELL WATER SAMPLES
A water sample from the water well system on the property was collected on 03 July 1998. The
sample set was collected in EPA-approved VOA vials containing nitric acid to preserve the water
sample and into 1-liter amber bottles. The samples were transported in a chilled container under
chain-of-custody. The well water sample was analyzed by:
• EPA Method 8015 modified for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline, diesel,
motor oil (TPH-g, TPH-d and TPH-mo), and by
• EPA Method 8020 for purgeable aromatics (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total
xylenes: BTE&X, including methyl tertiary butyl ether: MTBE)
3.4. DISPOSAL OF EXCAVATED SOIL
On 20 July 1998, soil stockpile on the site were to Forward, Inc., in Manteca, California and was
disposed. A copy of the transporter's manifest are included in Appendix A.
4.0. FINDINGS
4.1. FIELD OBSERVATION
Field observations of soil excavated from the trenches and soil exposed in trench side walls indicated
limited hydrocarbon-impacted soil extending to depths of five feet bsg.In the area of trench T1,gray
to black silty clay with hydrocarbon odor was observed from depths of six inches to three feet bsg.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
