Box 58
Holt, CA 95234
REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATION WORKPLAN, VOLPI FARM
PROPERTY, STOCKTON, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
We have reviewed the following reports prepared by Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. for the
Volpi Farms (Volpi)property at 14210 West State Route 4, Stockton (site):
1. Soil Remediation and Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation Report (Well Installation
Report) dated 1 September 2000
2. Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report— Third Quarter 2000(Quarterly Report) dated
12 December 2000
We have the following comments:
1. The text in the Well Installation Report states that the monitoring wells have a screened
interval from 10 to 15 feet below the ground surface (bgs). However, the well completion
details on the boring logs from the same report show the screened interval from 5 to 15
feet bgs. Volpi needs to clarify the correct well construction in the requested Well
Installation Work Plan(see Comment No. 2 below).
2. Monitoring well MW-1 at the downgradient edge of the contaminated groundwater has the
highest concentration of petroleum hydrocarbons and the Well Installation Report
recommends that Volpi install a monitoring well downgradient from MW-1. We concur
with this recommendation. Volpi needs to submit a Well Installation Work Plan to define
the extent of groundwater contamination downgradient from MW-1.
3. Volpi is currently conducting groundwater monitoring on a quarterly basis. Volpi needs to
submit the quarterly reports by the 1st day of the second month following the end of each
calendar quarter (i.e., by 1 February, 1 May, l August, and 1 November).
California Environmental Protection Agency
a Recycled Paper
The energy challenge facing California is real.
