Mcdonald rd
Herb Speckman Farms Stockton,CA 95219
April 2, 2009
Margaret Lagorio
MW7 was placed on the perimeter of a field about 3-5 feet in from an irrigation/drainage canal. The
perimeter is an area that tractors use to turn around when working the field and as a road when
monitoring crops. The placement of the well in the soft soil allowed the well to be covered quite easily.
Annually this canal is cleaned/dredged and the soil is placed on the bank to increase the height of the
irrigation canal. Over the years I would guess 1-3 feet of soil has probably accumulated on top of
MW7.
I have looked for MW7 three different times and was unsuccessful each time. First I used the map
provided on page 23 of the Closure Report and dug 2 large holes to a depth of 3-4 ft.;where I thought
the well would be at with no luck. On 4/5/8 Chris Torres an AGE employee who had tested the well
before and new of its whereabouts had looked using a metal detector and a shovel and was
unsuccessful. Using his map and metal detector he also marked off a 15ft x 15ft area where he was
certain the well was located. On that same day I brought in a backhoe and dug out the 15ft x 15ft area
to a depth of 3-4 ft and still came up with nothing, no plastic pipe, no well head.
These are images after I was done digging the 15ft x 15ft area with the backhoe. As you see there was
a lot of time and effort put into trying to finding the missing MW7.
r
ri
N
c %r
- <--•v ~ . .J +fes
.
