22 September 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 00-0753
2.1.3. Equipment Decontamination
.Prior to sample collection, Geoprobe soil and ground water sampling equipment was thoroughly
rinsed with clean water after washing with a solution of Aleonox. Geoprobe rods were thoroughly
cleaned prior to soil probe boring advancement.
2.2. ANALYTICAL PROTOCOL
Eight selected soil samples (all ten foot samples and the fifteen foot samples from borings B 1 and
B4) and all ground water samples were transported to McCampbell Analytical Inc. (MCAI), a
California Department of Health Services certified laboratory, for analysis. Selected soil and ground
water samples were analyzed for the following:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPH-g), total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel
(TPH-d) and total petroleum hydrocarbons as motor oil (TPH-mo) by EPA Method 8015
Modified/3550,
Volatile aromatic compounds-benzene,toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes(BTE&X)
and methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE) by EPA Method 8020,
3.0. FINDINGS
3.1. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in the ten-foot soil samples collected from borings B-3 through B-6 at
concentrations of 55 mg/kg, 2,800 mg/kg, 94 mg/kg and 760 mg/kg, respectively. TPH-d was
detected in the same soil samples at concentrations of 12 mg/kg, 520 mg/kg, 12 mg/kg and 180
mg/kg, respectively. TPH-mo was detected in the ten-foot soil samples collected from borings B-4
and B-5 at concentrations of 9.6 mg/kg and 8.0 mg/kg, respectively.
Samples 134-10 and B6-10 contained benzene at 6.3 mg/kg and 0.16 mg/kg, respectively. The
remaining BTE&X compounds were detected in samples 133-10, B4-10, B5-10 and B6-10 at
concentrations ranging$•om 0.16 mg/kg of ethylbenzene in sample B3-10 to 310 mg/kg of xylenes
in sample 134-10. MTBE was not detected above laboratory reporting limits in the soil sample
analysis.
Analytical results of soil samples are summarized in Table 1. Copies of the laboratory report(MCAI
Lab I.D. number 46450 through 46457) and chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix A.
Advanced GenEnvironmental,Inc.
S 'd LlocoaBGoa qJagie ueAR d1_a :E0 0a Ga dos
