SOIL ASSESSMENT FOR PROPERTY ACQUISITION
SHELL OIL COMPANY
INTERSECTION OF INTERSTATE 205 AND GRANT LINE ROAD
TRACY, CALIFORNIA
DELTA PROJECT NO. 40-89-052
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Delta Environmental Consultants, Inc. (Delta), has been authorized to conduct a soil investigation to
evaluate the presence or absence of petroleum constituents and pesticides/herbicides in soils beneath
a parcel of land at the intersection of Grant Line Road and Interstate 205 (I-205) in Tracy,
California. The soil assessment is being done in conjunction with a possible property transfer.
This report presents descriptions of soil conditions underlying the site as discerned by advancing six
exploratory soil borings. The boring locations were selected to identify the possible presence of
hydrocarbon and pesticide/herbicide constituents in soils and to represent soil conditions across the
2-acre site.
1.1 Purpose
The soil investigation was undertaken to:
• Determine whether surface soils contained pesticide/herbicide residues.
• Determine whether soils beneath the site contained petroleum constituents.
1.2 Scope of Work
To accomplish these objectives, the following work has been performed:
• Six exploratory soil borings were advanced with a hollow-stem auger drilling rig.
• Soil samples were collected from the soil borings near ground surface and at 5-foot-
depth intervals, using standard protocol, for description and classification purposes and
for chemical analysis by a State-certified laboratory.
• Soil samples were screened with a photoionization detector(PID)for total organic vapors.
