O. Box 6012
San Ramon, CA 94583
REVIEW —WORKPLAN ADDENDUM - TAOC 6th STREET TRACY RAIL YARD PROPERTY,
TRACY, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
Chevron Environmental Management Company (Chevron) submitted a Workplan Addendum
(Workplan) dated 15 February 2011 for the Tidewater Associated Oil Company (TAOC) 6th
Street Tracy Rail Yard project (Site), in central Tracy. The Workplan was submitted by AMEC
Geomatrix, Inc. (AMEC) on behalf of Chevron. The Workplan was provided in response to
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (Central Valley Water Board) staff review
comments to an earlier Soil and Groundwater Investigation Report dated 30 July 2010.
A Central Valley Water Board staff letter to Chevron, dated 7 December 2010, requested
additional soil and groundwater sampling information and fuel fingerprint evaluation,
particularly from the areas near AMEC soil borings TRY-1 and TRY-29.
Based on information contained in earlier reports, AMEC provided the following:
Vicinity of TRY-1 (within Operable Unit 2 [OU-21)
• Adequate fuel fingerprint analysis and evaluation information from earlier investigations
and AMEC's July 2010 report has been completed. Additional fuel fingerprinting is not
needed for soil samples collected from borings in this area.
• Previous and recent investigative findings determined that sufficient analytical results
for samples from offset locations has adequately defined the lateral and vertical extent
of crude oil impacts and additional work is not needed.
• The lateral and vertical extent of affected groundwater has not been defined and
additional information is needed.
Vicinity of TRY-29 (within Operable Unit 5 [OU-51)
• Adequate fuel fingerprint evaluation from earlier investigations and AMEC's July 2010
report has been completed. Additional fuel fingerprinting analysis is not needed in this
area.
California Environmental Protection Agency
ca Recycled Paper
