Lee Higgins -2- 3 March 2011
Chevron
TAOC Tracy Rail Yard, 6"h Street
• Central Valley Water Board staff previously commented that impacted soil had been
defined but asked for additional sampling and analytical data. During a January 2011
telephone conversation, Central Valley Water Board staff clarified that in the event
impacted soil is encountered in samples from the offset borings, laboratory analysis
should be completed.
• The lateral and vertical extent of affected groundwater has not been defined in the
vicinity of TRY-29 and additional characterization is needed.
Based on the information outlined above, AMEC proposes to:
• Drill three additional borings in the vicinity of TRY-1 and collect groundwater samples
for lateral and vertical delineation purposes.
• Drill four additional borings in the vicinity of TRY-29 for collection and analysis of
groundwater samples.
• Follow the same field investigation and sampling protocol outlined in the July 2010 Soil
and Groundwater investigation report.
Central Valley Water Board staff concurs with the additional soil and groundwater investigation
outlined in the Workplan and described above.
By 1 September 2011, please submit a final soil and groundwater investigation report.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Dean Hubbard at (559) 445-5179.
SHELTON R.
