SAIC submitted the Soil and Groundwater Investigation Work
Plan, Catellus Property, West Byron Road and West Grant Line Road, Tracy, California to the Regional
Water Quality Control Board—Central Valley Region(RWQCB) on April 17,2007. SAIC has since
determined that one additional boring should be completed as part of the investigation to evaluate and
determine if soil and/or groundwater affected by former Chevron pipelines exists near a known diesel
release. The property owner for parcel 209-27-014 indicated that affected soil near, but not in,the area of
the diesel release has been encountered. This property is within the boundaries of the existing Catellus
site;therefore, the report of affected soil will be evaluated as part of an investigation currently scheduled
to begin on May 19, 2008.
SAIC proposed to advance borings SB-66 to SB-69 to investigate the potential presence of affected soil
and groundwater(east of Byron Road) adjacent to the Filios-Mansfield property, which is adjacent to the
Catellus property. The Filios Mansfield property obtained No Further Action(NFA) status from the
RWQCB in 2002,and SAIC determined that proposed boring locations SB-66 through SB-69 would not
provide information to aid in delineating the extent of affected groundwater; therefore, these borings will
not be advanced.
SAIC proposed to sample three water supply wells (Map ID Nos. 15, 18, and 22 illustrated on Figure 1),
but re-evaluated the need for sampling these wells as follows:
• Well Map ID No. 18 is immediately down gradient of the Filios-Mansfield Property and this well
is almost certainly unaffected as the extent of the affected groundwater was defined during the
Filios-Mansfield site investigation. Therefore, sampling this well is not necessary.
Science Applications International Corporation
3800 Watt Avenue I Suite#210/Sacramento.
