HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
Specialists in Site Assessment,Remedial Testing,Design and Operation
October 30, 2014
Mr. Tom Sexton
CST Brands Maintenance Department
685 W. Third Street
Hanford, CA 93230
Subject: Baseline Assessment Report
Corner Store Station No. 3641, 1210 E. Hammer Lane, Stockton, California
Mr. Sexton:
At the request of CST Brands (CST), Horizon Environmental Inc. (Horizon) is submitting
this report of a baseline assessment investigation at the subject site(Site)as shown on Figure
1. The baseline assessment was conducted to provide CST with baseline environmental data
prior to site divestment.
Background
The Site was opened to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD) in
October 1995 on the basis of soil samples collected during removal of underground storage
tanks. The Site was investigated, monitored and remediated until December 2011 when the
EHD received no-further-action-required (NFAR) concurrence from the Regional Water
Quality Control Board. Destruction of all site wells was completed in February 2013. The
EHD issued an NFAR letter for the Site in March 2013.
Baseline Assessment
Horizon applied for and obtained boring permit SR# 70762 to allow advancement of the
proposed soil borings. Horizon retained All Well Abandonment of Rancho Cordova to
provide hollow-stem auger drilling and soil sampling services. Fieldwork was conducted on
22 October 2014. Four soil borings were advanced to approximately 25 feet below surface
grade (bsg) at the locations shown on Figure 1. Soil samples were collected at
approximately five-foot intervals or less from 5 feet bsg to 25 feet bsg. Soil samples were
field-screened for volatile hydrocarbon compounds using a photo-ionization detector (YID).
Soil descriptions (Unified Soil Classification System) and sampling information were
recorded on field logs. Boring logs are attached. No evidence of fuel hydrocarbon impacts
was observed during field screening of soil samples. Soil cuttings were contained in DOT
55-gallon drums. The borings were backfilled with neat cement to approximately 1 foot bsg
and topped off with concrete to the surface. A four-point sample of the soil cuttings was
collected after the completion of drilling.
4970 Windplay Drive,#C5 • EI Dorado Hills,CA 95762 - (916)939-2170 - FAX(916)939-2172
P.O.Box 5283 - Bakersfield,CA 93388 - (661)589-8389 - FAX(661)589-1456
