GRO
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
December 18, 2003 (Project No. 03.537)
detects certain organic compounds such as petroleum hydrocarbons. Because of the past
agricultural uses in the area, Fugro also proposes to collect four samples at a depth of six inches
below the ground surface for limited environmental testing.
Borehole Sealing
The borings will be conducted under the required drilling permit issued by the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department and will be backfilled with lean cement grout in accordance with
the requirements of the permit. We have assumed that soil cuttings generated during the drilling
can be left on-site. If we discover contamination during the drilling operations, then we will contain
the drill cuttings in drums and have the drums hauled to a licensed landfill. We anticipate that no
water will be generated for disposal at the site. We will clear the proposed exploration locations for
underground utilities by contacting Underground Service Alert.
Scope of Laboratory Testing
At this time, Fugro has only established a laboratory testing program for the four surface
soil samples. We anticipate the past uses of the site have been agricultural and that pesticides
and/or herbicides have been used. We have therefore planned to test the four soil samples for
the presence of organo chlorine pesticides in accordance with EPA Test Method 8081. During
the Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, we may identify other potential contaminants at the
site, and we may therefore add additional laboratory testing. If, during our drilling operations, we
encounter soils with high OVM vapor readings that are indicative of petroleum hydrocarbons or
solvents, and we will designate additional analyses to quantify concentrations of these
compounds.
Site Plan and Safety Plan
We have included on the attached plate the proposed locations of the fifteen borings for the
three parcels.
Closure
We request that you review the work plan and the Well Permit Application Permit Form. We
have included a check for $368 to cover the permit fee, and we have attached a copy of the
signed right of entry agreement between the current owner and the purchaser. Our drilling is
currently scheduled for January 5, 2004. Please provide us with any questions or comments as
soon as possible on our permit application and work plan so that we can proceed with the
drilling operations.
GAPROPOSED W0RK%2003=.53TW0RK_PLAN.D0C 2
