The documents that these changes pertain
to are: "Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study Workplan,
Southern Pacific Transportation Company, French Camp" dated
August 1987 , "Implementation Work Plan, Interim Remedial Measure"
dated July 1988 and, "Health and Safety Plan, French Camp Site,
Harlan Road, French Camp California" dated August 1987 . These
documents were written by Canonie Environmental . The changes
discussed are as follows:
1. In July 1988 DHS requested that stainless steel materials be
used in the wells to be installed at the site. Although
there were differences in opinion between consultants for
Southern Pacific Transportation and DHS on the
appropriateness of the use of stainless steel, Southern
Pacific Transportation has decided to use stainless steel in
the three wells to be installed because of the costs
involved in investigating the differences in ground water
sample analyses results between stainless steel and PVC
cased wells at this site.
2 . DHS has requested and Southern Pacific Transportation
consults have agreed to analyze ground water samples (from
the monitoring wells to be installed) for Halogenated
Volatile organic compounds by EPA method 8010 in addition to
Phenolic compounds, PCB compounds and Total Extractable
Petroleum Hydrocarbons.
3 . In telephone conversations with Mr. Mike Velzy and Mr. Greg
Shepard in January 1988 , DHS requested that monitoring well
water level measurements be recorded monthly and that the
data obtained be evaluated after an appropriate period of
time to evaluate the need for further measurements. This
was agreed to by Mr. Shepard.
