Atkinson
Regional Water Quality Control Board-Central Valley Region
3443 Routier Road, Suite A
Sacramento, CA 95827-3003
Subject: Cleanup and Abatement Order No. 5-01-722 for
MonierLifetile LLC's French Camp and Lathrop Facilities
San Joaquin County(Case No. 4503)
Annual Waste Recycling Report
Dear Mr. Atkinson:
As agreed, MonierLifetile LLC is providing a report of the amount of reject tile that has been recycled or
disposed of during the year. Original volumes of material subject to the order were reported as of
October, 2001 and were:
Location Amounts
Lathrop 107,000 tons
French Camp 46,500 tons
French Camp Grain 30,000 tons
Total: 183,500 tons
Thompson-Hysell Engineers surveyed the stockpiles and calculated the volume of the current stockpiles
in the first week of December. For purposes of the reporting, the data generated at that time is used for
the reporting as most accurate. In order to convert to tonnage (as originally reported), the tonnage
associated with one cubic foot of reject tile was determined by actual weighing of material onsite and
averaging the results. 'That conversion factor (1.29 Ton/cubic yard) was then used to provide the
following current amounts of material stored.
Location Current Volume Amounts
Lathrop 61,747 cy 79,653 tons
French Camp 30,870 cy 39,822 tons
French Camp 0 cy 0 tons
Grain
Total: 92,617 cy 119,475 tons
The total reduction of material therefore calculates to a reduction of 35%. Please note, the n,inibers from
October were based on estimates of both volume and weight while the current numbers are based on
surveys of the stockpiles and actual averaged density of stockpiled materials as weighed onsite. Future
reduction reporting will be based on volumes from actual surveys performed.
