FINAL SITE 47 SOIL SAMPLING WORK PLAN
PORT OF STOCKTON-ROUGH AND READY ISLAND,CALIFORNIA
3.3 TASK 3: GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLING
At three locations, the boring will not be terminated when saturated soil is first encountered,
but will be advanced an additional three to four feet to allow a grab ground water sample to be
collected. Two of the three locations will be borings S47-B1 and S47-1310, at each end of the
proposed rail alignment, and the third grab ground water sample will be collected from boring
S47-136, near the center of the alignment. The grab ground water samples will be analyzed for
dissolved arsenic by EPA Method 6020.
4. REPORT
The results of this investigation will be used to guide soil grading and amendment operations
that are necessary for the construction of the proposed rail facility. The intent is to prevent soil
that exceeds the background concentration of 30 mg/kg (DTSC, 2015) from being entombed
beneath the newly-constructed rail. Greater definition of the distribution of arsenic in the area
will identify areas where more or less soil is required to be removed in order to meet this goal.
The results of the sampling and analyses proposed in this Work Plan will be described in a
technical memorandum prepared within 30 days of receipt of the laboratory data.
March 2015 4 Environmental Risk Services `
Corporation .e.
