02 June 2006
AGE-NC Project No. 06-1433
Page 2 of 5
origin. The Great Valley Province has been subdivided into two major divisions identified as the
Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys.
The Modesto, Riverbank and Turlock Lake Formations and overlying Recent alluvium are the
principal sources of domestic ground water in the 13,500-square mile San Joaquin Valley Ground
Water Basin(Basin 5-22). This basin is drained primarily by the San Joaquin River.
4.0. SCOPE OF WORK
AGE will advance up to ten soil borings at the site to determine if any impacts are present at the site
as a result of previous operations. Soil samples will be collected from each boring; ground water
samples will be collected from selected borings. The limited subsurface investigation will include
the following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Soil sample collection and analysis;
• Ground water sample collection and analysis; and
• Report preparation
The site assessment tasks are discussed below.
4.1. PRE-FIELD WORK TASKS
A health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health
Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health Administration,U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).
Prior to mobilization,the area of excavation will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained
through Underground Service Alert.
4.2. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance up to ten soil borings at the site.Each boring shall be advanced to a depth
between 10 and 20 feet bsg.Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals.The proposed probe
boring locations may be modified due to field observations.
Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc.
