2.5.2 Groundwater Monitoring
Historically, MW-1 was sampled once in February 1996 and MW-7S and MW-7D were
sampled once in October 1997. There is no record that VE-1 was sampled prior to 2007. On
January 16, 2007, ETIC initiated quarterly groundwater monitoring of wells. MW-1, MW-7S,
MW-7D, and VE-1. The details of the January 16, 2007 event will be submitted under separate
cover. The results of the 1996, 1997, and 2007 groundwater monitoring events are presented in
Table 4.
2.6 CURRENT SITE STATUS
In their September 26, 2006 letter, CVRWQCB requested that the following tasks be
performed:
• Remove all drums containing investigative-derived waste (IDW);
• Perform quarterly groundwater monitoring;
• Prepare, submit, and implement a work plan for additional investigation to delineate the
vertical and lateral extent of the petroleum hydrocarbon release; and
• Submit all documents in electronic format to Geotracker.
In December 2006, twenty-five 55-gallon drums of IDW were identified. The IDW was
presumably left at the Site following Secor investigations. The drums were subsequently
sampled for characterization by PSC of Benicia, California. On December 18, 2006, PSC
removed the drums from the Site and transported them for proper disposal at a licensed facility
in Fernley, Nevada. The waste manifest associated with this drum removal was provided under
separate cover to CVRWQCB on February 13, 2007.
Quarterly groundwater monitoring was conducted on January 16, 2007. The details of this
monitoring event will be submitted under separate cover.
This work plan is for additional investigation to delineate the extent of petroleum hydrocarbon
contamination in soil and the shallowest aquifer at the Site. The proposed scope of services is
presented in the following sections.
3.0 PROPOSED SCOPE OF SERVICES
The objective of this investigation is to delineate the extent of petroleum hydrocarbon
contamination in soil and the shallowest aquifer at the Site. The scope of services will include
the following activities: (1) field preparation; (2) drilling and soil sampling; (3) groundwater
sampling; (4) laboratory analysis; (5) monitoring well installation; (6) monitoring well survey;
and(7) data evaluation and reporting.
6
