OCI OF STOCKTON
OA
A94
STOCKTON FIRE DEPARTMENT
CITY HALL
425 N. ELDORADO STREET
STOCKTON, CA 95202-1997
May 23, 2000
Pete Warren, Vice-President/General Manager
QB REBUILDERS, INC.
2325 West Charter Way
Stockton, CA. 95206-1135
FIRE INSPECTION - 2325 !NEST CH RTEa WAY
The Stockton Fire Department conducted a fire inspection on May 10, 2000, at QB Rebuilders, Inc., 2325
West Charter Way. The following fire code violations were noted and must be corrected immediately.
Those items that require a building permit shall be inspected upon completion of the permit work.
Relocate the barrel of flammable liquids to an approved storage area. Remove the gravity pour
spout, and replace it with a top pump so the container cannot be laid down or tipped to dispense
the liquids. Provide secondary containment for the two remaining containers of coating fluid and
rust inhibitor. Liquids can only be dispensed from a self-closing gravity spigot. Designate a
dispensing area separate from product storage (the containers are currently located against the
south wall, beneath the product storage racks). California Fire Code (CFC), §7903
Designate and mark an area for the storage of waste liquid. Do not mix product storage with
waste storage. Provide secondary containment for all waste storage. CFC, §8003
Do not stack the barrels of liquid hazardous waste. Provide secondary containment for all
containers. Three containers per containment unit will meet the requirements for capturing liquid
hazardous waste from leaking containers. CFC, §8003
4. Separate the empty containers and product boxes from the storage of core wastewater from
machines located outside (north yard). Provide secondary containment for the water, unless it is
shown not to contain contaminants or a pH outside of the Federal or State guidelines. Maintain a
log showing the pH for each waste batch. CFC, §8003
Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets readily available at all times to employees in areas where
the chemicals are stored and used. A log shall be provided for the pH testing of the wastewater
containers prior to labeling. Label all containers with proper waste labels.
6. Provide the combustible three -sided building (north yard) with an approved sprinkler system for
the storage of flammable liquids. Plans shall be submitted to the Fire Department prior to
installation. Remove the gravity spigots from the flammable containers, and only use overhead
pumps to dispense flammable liquids from the barrels. All flammable liquids shall be grounded
within the storage area. Remove the plastic gasoline container, and repair the approved metal
safety can used for dispensing flammable liquids. CFC, §1003.2.6
Capture the oils from the Cell -C dismantling tables into closed containers. Remove the half -
barrel unit beneath the table. CFC, §7901
www.stocktongov.com
"STOCKTON ... CALIFORNIA'S SUNRISE SEAPORT"
