KLEINFELDER
III. SCOPE OF WORK
Task 1 - Workplan Preparation and Permitting
A workplan and boring permit, which details the scope of work, will be submitted to PHS/EHD
for review and authorization. An authorization to proceed, by PHS/EHD, will be required prior
to conducting the scope of work.
Task 2 - Soil Sample Collection
Three single soil borings will be hand augered in the area of the AGST. Soil samples will be
collected at a depth intervals of five, and ten feet below surface grade (bsg) for lithologic and
qualitative field screening with an organic vapor analyzer (OVA). The OVA measures ionizable
compounds in air in parts per million by volume (ppmv). Lithologic classification will be based
on the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS). Soil samples will also be obtained for
potential quantitative chemical analysis. The samples will be obtained using a decontaminated
hand auger/slide hammer sampler. The technician will hand auger down to the desired sampling
depth and sample the soil by slide hammering the sampling device which holds a decontaminated
stainless steel sleeve.
Task 3 - Laboratory Analysis
Each of the soil samples collected for quantitative analysis will be submitted under chain-of-
custody control to Sequoia Analytical Laboratories (Sequoia) of Sacramento, California.
Sequoia is certified by the California Department of Toxic Substances to perform the requested
analyses.
A total of three (3) soil samples from the site (one from each boring) will be submitted for
analysis. The samples will be submitted for:
• Extractable Fuel Fingerprint by EPA Method 8015M
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons by EPA Methods 8015M
• Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020M
The samples will be analyzed on a regular laboratory turnaround schedule which requires
approximately two weeks to acquire the analytical data.
20-YP7-199/2017P 151/2017C324 Page 2 of 6
0 1997 Kleinfelder, Inc.
