REQTTIR:-21rNTS <br /> 3.1 Materials.- The dyes shall be in powdered form, properly <br /> compounded to meet the requirements of this specification. <br /> 3.2 Color.- Color shall be as specified in the contract or <br /> order, and shall match the color of the standard dye ( see 6.3) . <br /> 3.3 Uniformity.- The components of mixed dyes shall be <br /> thoroughly and intimately mixed so as to produce a product <br /> which is uniform and homogeneous, and does not show streaks <br /> of different colors when spread out in a thin layer. <br /> 3.4 Concentration.- Dyes shall be furnished in the most con- <br /> centrated form available. A solution of the dye shall not be <br /> more than 10.0 percent weaker than a solution of standard <br /> dye when subjected to the test prescribed in 4.3.3. <br /> 3.5 Moisture.- The moisture content of the dye shall be <br /> not more than 3.5 percent. <br /> 3.6 Fineness. - The fineness of the material shall be such <br /> that not less than 80 percent shall pass through a No. 325 <br /> U. S. Standard Sieve when tested in accordance with 4.3.5. <br /> 3.7 Color Stability.- Continued dilution with water of a <br /> solution of the dye shall result in only a change in shade, <br /> but not in color. <br /> 4. SAMPLING, INSPECTION AND TEST PROCEDURES <br /> 4.1 Sampling <br /> 4.1.1 Size of lots.- A lot shall consist of not more than <br /> 10,000 pounds of dye of one color. <br /> 4.1.2 Samples.- A minimum of 10 percent of the containers in <br /> the lot shall be selected by the Government inspector in such a <br /> manner as .to be representative of the lot . When lots comprise <br /> less than 100 containers, either 10 containers or all containers <br /> in the lot shall be selected. Sufficient of the material to <br /> form a primary sample of approximately 2-ounces shall be re- <br /> moved from each selected container by means of a thief. Mix <br /> 2 <br />
