APP
Well Installation and Sampling at California National Guard Field Maintenance Shop
Stockton, California
6.0 TRAINING
Training documentation will be inserted as necessary in the field to be included in Appendix F.
Information on training is also included in Section 5.0, "Training" in the SSHP.
6.1 NEw HIRE TRAINING
A new hire training program is currently in place as part of the OTIE policy (as per 6a). For the
orientation, the line manager conducts a discussion with the new employee to review applicable
safety regulations, ensure training certifications are up to date, and answer any safety-related
questions. The new hire meeting attendance is documented and kept in the Corporate office
files.
6.2 SITE-SPECIFIC ORIENTATION TRAINING
The SSHO will provide and document site-specific orientation training during the project kickoff
meeting and whenever new workers arrive on site. No site workers will be allowed to begin work
until the site-specific training is completed and documented. This training will address this
APP/SSHP and all safety and health requirements and procedures pertinent to site operations.
As part of the site-specific orientation training, the following topics will be covered:
• Project introduction and orientation;
• Potential site hazards (chemical, physical, and biological);
• Hazard communication for chemicals used on site;
• Selection, use, and limitation of PPE;
• Emergency procedures including provisions for medical facilities and obtaining medical
treatment or emergency assistance;
• General safety and health policies and procedures;
• Employee and supervisor responsibilities for reporting all accidents;
• Blood borne pathogen briefing;
• Content of the APP/SSHP/ANAs;
• Review of AHA before any task is performed and when a new worker performs this
activity for the first time; and
• Additional training, if required, for the completion of field tasks will be identified and
provided for personnel as work progresses.
All site workers will have completed 40-Hour HAZWOPER plus the 8-Hour Annual Refresher.
All Manager/Supervisors will have the 8-Hour Supervisor training. The SSHO will also have
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Training. At least two site workers, who have
current first aid/CPR training, will be on site at all times when work is underway. The SSHO will
have completed OSHA's 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent within the last 5 years.
A copy of the training completion certificates for each employee (including subcontractors)
working on the project will be maintained as part of the project files. The aforementioned training
requirements and other mandatory training and certifications required for this project are listed
in Table 2.
OTIE 12
