Safe meeting areas after site evacuation will vary depending on the <br /> work phase. They will be indicated on the site maps maintained in the field and will be <br /> discussed during daily safety meetings. All site personnel and visitors will be informed of the <br /> evacuation plan and meeting places during site orientation. <br /> Upon hearing the evacuation signal (three horn blasts followed by one continuous blast), <br /> employees will check the surroundings to determine wind direction. Whenever possible, <br /> evacuation should be in the direction perpendicular to the wind direction without passing <br /> through the plume or smoke cloud, if any. Emergency egress points will be on the site map <br /> maintained in the field and discussed in the site-specific orientation with all employees and <br /> visitors. <br /> Each site supervisor not involved in response activities will account for employees within his/her <br /> charge at the meeting area and report the information to the SSHO. The SSHO will check the <br /> supervisor's lists against the sign-in log and will notify the PM of any discrepancies. <br /> Figure 4 shows the evacuation routes from the two main work locations along with the hospital <br /> route map as Figure 3. <br /> 14.6 EMERGENCY PREVENTION, RECOGNITION AND RESPONSE <br /> 14.6.1 General <br /> Site personnel and visitors will be instructed in the recognition of site emergencies and their <br /> duties in notification/warning. <br /> Prevention - The provisions of the APP/SSHP/AHAs will be followed to prevent employee injury <br /> and illness. <br /> OTIE 45 <br />
