2.0 FIELD PROCEDURES <br /> ' Procedures to be used during abandonment of wells MW-1 and MW-12 are described in the <br /> following subsections. All work will be performed by a C-57 licensed contractor under the <br /> direction of a California Registered Professional Engineer, Geologist or Engineering Geologist. <br /> ' Work will conform to Well Standards promulgated by San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Services, Environmental Health Division. <br /> ' 2.1 Description of Existing Wells <br /> ' Monitoring well MW-1 is approximately 25 feet deep and is constructed of 2-inch Schedule 40 <br /> PVC blank casing to a depth of approximately 5 feet below ground surface (bgs). Twenty feet of <br /> 0.020-inch opening Schedule 40 PVC well screen was installed from 5 to 25 feet bgs. A filter <br /> pack consisting of silica sand was installed to about 2 feet above the top of the well screen,with <br /> a 2-foot thick bentonite seal above the filter pack. A concrete grout seal extends from the top of <br /> ' the bentonite seal (3 feet bgs)to the flush-mounted ground surface completion. <br /> ' Monitoring well MW-12 is approximately 18 feet deep and is constructed of 2-inch Schedule 40 <br /> PVC blank casing to a depth of approximately 8 feet below ground surface (bgs). Ten feet of <br /> 0.020-inch opening Schedule 40 PVC well screen was installed from 8 to 18 feet bgs. A filter <br /> pack consisting of silica sand was installed to about 2 feet above the top of the well screen, with <br /> a 2-foot thick bentonite seal above the filter pack.
