Tracy Cold Storage j
Addendum to Case Closure Request "••+
Page:3
• Monitoring well MW-9 was installed down-gradient from the former UST into the
second aquifer and has indicated non-detectable levels of gasoline and gasoline
constituents. This indicates that a good confining layer exists between the first and
second aquifers and that it has prevented the vertical migration of contaminants.
Also, the subsurface materials have demonstrated_an ability to adsorb significant
levels of gasoline and gasoline constituents further reducing the, mobility of the
contaminants.
• Minimization of the withdrawal of water from the South Well will similarly minimize
the potential for contaminant migration.
Based on the items outlined above, AGS recommends that the North Well be
permanently wired to be used as the primary water well and the South Well wired to be
used as the supplemental water source. Since the North Well is capable of meeting most
of the plant's water needs, it is unlikely-that the South Well will be utilized except during
times of peak water use and in the event of the failure of the North Well pump. .It is our
conclusion that this approach provides the most cost-effective alternative that remains
protective of the waters of the State.
If you should have any questions regarding this information, please do not hesitate to
contact us. Your favorable consideration of this request would be greatly appreciated.
Respectfully submitted,
GLEN
1NHffE -`
NO.6563 `Q-
Glen T. White, R.G.
