rT
1-5
In order to accomplish the objectives of this Work Plan, a subsurface investigation will be
conducted. The investigation will include collection and analyses of soil and ground water
samples to determine whether a release of site-related constituents to the environment has
occurred. The scope of the investigation will include the advancement of seven shallow bor-
ings (i.e., not deeper than 30 feet and most between 15 and 20 feet) for the collection of soil
samples and installation of three monitoring wells. If ground water is not present within
about 30 feet of ground surface, the scope of the ground water assessment will address sam-
pling the water supply well(s) at the site.
Based on our current understanding of subsurface conditions and discussions with local dril-
ling firms and regulatory agencies, it is not certain whether ground water exists within 30
feet of the ground surface. One source suggested that ground water exists within 5 or 10
a
feet of ground surface while other sources indicate 100 or more feet to ground water.
Completion of this project requires that the following tasks be conducted:
` • Task 1 - Health and Safety Plan (HASP) Development
• Task 2 - Mobilization/Demobilization
• Task 3 - Advancement of Soil Borings and Soil Sampling
• Task 4 - Ground Water Sampling
• Task 5 - Visual Inspection of Septic System
• Task 6 - Data Interpretation and Report Preparation.
These tasks are discussed in detail in the following chapters.
_ r
:L
b
:24447
_ "REALISTIC SOLUTIONS FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE PROBLEMS"
