within 0.01 feet. Each well was then purged with a submersible pump until a minimum
of three casing volumes of water had been removed and temperature, pH, and electrical
conductivity had stabilized to within 10% of the previous readings. This insured that
formation waters were drawn into each well. All measured parameters were recorded on
the appropriate field logs and are presented in Appendix B. Table 1 summarizes the field
logs for the measured parameters.
' TABLE 1
Summary of Monitoring Well Field Logs
Volume Temp pH Conductivity
Well Date purged (OC) units (µSlcm) Turbidity '
(gallons}
' 0.5 17.0 7.40 1470 High
MW-1A 03/16/99 1.5 17.1 7.48 1440 Low
3.0 17.2 7.47 1440 Low
4.5 17.3 7.47 1440 Low
0.5 16.4 7.09 2160 High
MW-6 03/16/99 1.5 16.0 7.30 2000 Low
3.0 15.9 7.45 1750 Low
4.5 159 7.39 1680 Low
lie The pump, hose, and electrical leads were decontaminated before and between each well
purging by washing the exterior with a solution of laboratory grade detergent. The pump
was flushed by pumping the solution through the pump and hose. The exterior of the
pump, hose, and electrical leads were then rinsed with potable water. Potable water was
pumped through the pump and hose. The pump was then rinsed with potable water.
1 After purging, sampling of each well was conducted using new, clean, dedicated
disposable polyethylene bailers. The bailers were lowered into the wells via new
' dedicated poly cords, samples collected, and gently poured into four laboratory provided
clean glass VOA vials. Each VOA vial was immediately sealed, checked for headspace,
labeled with the date, time and location and placed in a cooler containing blue ice at 4°
Celsius.
' The samples were transported under strict chain-of-custody protocol to GeoAnalytical
Laboratories in Modesto, California for analysis. All samples were delivered to the
analytical laboratory within one hour from their time of collection. Appendix A contains
analytical data, chain-of-custody and QA/QC data.
