Lindsay Street, Stockton, CA <br /> Project No. 376.2 <br /> May 9, 2003 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> i <br /> 1.1 Site Setting & History <br /> The Property occupies the western 1/2 of the city block bounded by Lindsay } <br /> Street, Miner Avenue, Union Street, and the active Union Pacific Railroad <br /> (UPRR) tracks. Since 1869, the Property has been used by Union Pacific and its <br /> predecessors for railroad applications. The eastern 1/ pf the Property formerly <br /> was the site of a rail spur, and the western 3/ pf the Property have always been <br /> used as a service yard. The Property has total area of about 1.4 acres located in <br /> an industrial and commercial use area of central Stockton. <br /> T 1.2 Previous Environmental Work <br /> Geo-Phase Environmental Inc. recently completed a Phase I Environmental Site <br /> Assessment (ESA) dated December 13, 2002 for the subject Property. The ESA <br /> identified several areas, which in our professional opinion, merited additional <br /> investigation. The environmental conditions included the following: <br /> Former Underground Tank <br /> Evidence was found to indicate that a former 1,000-gallon underground <br /> 1 gasoline tank located near the repair shop was removed under County <br /> supervision. A confirmation soil sample collected from a depth of 13 feet <br /> contained low levels (8.8 ppm) : of volatile petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> compounds.
