i
Report-Soil Investigation
Page 2
Former UPRR Service Yard
Project No. 376.2
May 9, 2003
a letter stating that the site was not considered contaminated but that
additional investigation was needed to obtain formal closure of the tank.
Former.Rail Spur
An old UPRR map suggests the possibility that a buried oil pipeline. may k
have crossed the rail spur right-of-way. In addition it was not known if
spills or other releases_ from the spur might have impacted the soil.
Scope of Work
The following work was completed to investigate the identified environmental
conditions identified in the Phase I ESA. '
Former Underground Tank
Hand auger tools were used to probe and identify the exact location of the
former tank pit. Later, Geo-Probe drilling equipment was used to install
one boring to total depth of 45 feet, sufficiently deep to penetrate the
groundwater surface. A groundwater sample was collected from the boring. {
The groundwater sample and two sail samples were submitted for
laboratory analysis. The samples'were tested for the presence of TEPH,
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as ;;gasoline (TPH-G), the volatile organics
Benzene, Toluene, Xylene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene (BTEX) and 5
oxygenated gasoline additives including MTBE.
Former Rail Spur t
Two Geo-Probe soil borings were advanced to a depth of 20 feet at locations
along the south and central areas of the former rail spur on the east side of
the Property. A soil sample from each boring was submitted for laboratory
analysis. Both samples were tested for the presence of TEPH.
1
Irk
I
F
I
II
II
2937 Veneman Ave.,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
