Boreholes will be probed on five-foot intervals for the presence
of standing water. A continuous core of the boreholes will be collected and logged pursuant to
the Unified Soil Classification.
The monitoring wells will be designed and installed according to the California Well Standards
and installed according to the permit conditions of the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department with the following details:
Borehole Diameter—Nominal 8-inch diameter borehole.
Borehole Depth—Estimated to range from 20 to 25 feet, depending on first occurrence of
groundwater. Well depth will allow for normal fluctuations of the shallow groundwater table.
Casing Diameter—Nominal 2-inches.
Casing Materials—ASTM F480 Schedule 40 PVC. Top of casing shall be approximately two
feet above the ground surface.
Well Screen—Factory slotted ASTM F480 Schedule 40 PVC. Approximately 10 linear feet of
well screen will be placed in the bottom of the borehole. Because of the purpose of these wells
to sample the uppermost groundwater, the well screen and filter pack will be placed such that the
annular seal will be less than 20 feet in length.
May 2006 Main Stone Property
3-2 Effluent Storage and Disposal Site Hydrogeologic Investgabon Workplan
